How the Roaster Finder is curated

Every record in the directory is agent-curated against a written schema, with each record individually verified against the roaster's own website. These are the rules, in plain language:

• No roaster is listed without a live website. Each site is confirmed reachable at curation time, and the record stores the date and the method used to confirm it.
• Ownership badges require on-site evidence. The Veteran-Owned badge is shown only when the claim appears on the roaster's own site or a reputable directory, and each badge links to the exact source page. If a claim can't be evidenced, the field is left out entirely — we never guess. General mission language does not count as an ownership claim.
• Price bands come from observed prices only. Bands are budget (under $15), mid ($15–25), and premium (over $25) per 12oz-equivalent bag. A band is only shown alongside the actual sample price we observed and the date we observed it. No observed price, no band.
• Small-brand only. Big-media coffee brands and the vertically-integrated subscription incumbents are excluded on purpose — the directory's value is indexing the independent roasters others skip, and linking to them directly.
• Records are genuinely unique. City, state, roast styles, and origin focus are taken from each roaster's own site — no templated filler.
• Refresh cadence: monthly, including a dead-link sweep that re-checks every listed website. Directory pages show a last-verified stamp; the data behind this page was last verified 2026-07-20.
